Remember when the milk man used to deliver fresh milk to our doorsteps, every morning?

Neither do I!  However, for one of my good friends, delivering milk was her father’s first job —  put out of business by the cheap and plentiful oil (and gas) of the 1960’s and early 70’s.  

It’s hard to believe —  now that gas prices have retreated from the highs of a few years ago — that we are actually living in a time of increasing oil and gas scarcity.  The true price of oil and gas has been covered up by another recent invention —  savings accounts that don’t pay anything to savers.  Back when banks had to pay us for the use of our money, investors couldn’t afford to put money into gas exploration that spills more money than carbon!   To read more on the topic, please read this excellent summary

Returning to Tibibev Inc., we try hard to learn from the past.  One of the practices, back when gas was expensive and rare, was simple —  food got delivered!   

Imagine a village, with the C–, F–, P–, R– and W– families.   Rather than each of them making a separate trip to pick up grain bowls, hot soup, vegetable blends and tibicos drink, the delivery van makes one trip, bringing exactly what is needed to each family, for a fraction of the miles driven!   We have been following this model since October 2018; and a tremendous amount of credit for Raw tibicos / Tibibev / Fizz Kitchen Delivery’s ability to spare the planet goes to you, our customers, for working with us on the timing of your deliveries, and buying bulk!  Your delivery choices have been saving huge amounts of gas miles!  I could say, “thank you for making us look good”, but honestly, the credit, and good looks, belong to you.

Currently, Tuesday is known as the day we deliver to Welland, Monday and Wednesday in St Catharines, and Fridays in Niagara-on-the-Lake.   We have more vans on the road, so please do save some gas miles, and call to set up regular delivery service to your community!

Growler Returns Support Bees!

Now, for every growler returned to our facility, or to our vans, we donate $.50 toward Ontario Beekeepers Association’s bee protection and advocacy fund! Together, we are making a difference!

This growler has been around three times, raising $1.50 for Ontario’s bees, just this one bottle! All bottles are washed and sterilized, before reuse. This survivor is shown with our latest thank you — a thank you to every one who returned bottles — !!

Zesty Awesome Smoothie

In a blender, place:

1)  32 ounces / 900 grams your favourite plain yoghurt

2)  10 ounces / 300 grams frozen raspberries

3)  a pinch of sea salt

4)  two bottles of Raw Tibicos RED PUNCH (24 ounces, or 700 ml)

Remember to put the lid on the blender, and blend for several minutes until smooth.

Enjoy with friends, or save it all for yourself . . .  !

Super-Easy Pumpkin Soup/ Sauce

Here’s an easy recipe that can be used either as a light soup, or as a pasta sauce!

  1. 1 can pumpkin puree
  2. 1 bottle Ann Payne’s Water Kefir
  3. 1 teaspoon salt
  4. 2 tablespoons butter

Combine all the ingredients, but save back 1/3 of the bottle of water kefir.   Heat gently over low- medium heat.   When the butter melts, and the mixture is gently bubbling, turn off the heat and stir in the remainder of the water kefir.

Adding 1/3 of the bottle at the last minute preserves enzymes and beneficial bacteria, to help with digestion . . . Enjoy!

Ann Payne’s Caveman Foods New Website stresses Canadian Headquarters

Toronto, October 28, 2014 — Ann Payne’s Caveman Foods has unveiled a new website: annpaynescavemanfoods.ca. This replaces the previous web site, eatcavemanfood.com, although the old web site is still up, during this transition.

This move has been made to clarify some confusion in the United States, where there was some confusion over a marketing subsidiary with a similar name — there was an assumption — even by people with access to the labels which say “Made in Canada” — that the beverage itself was brewed in the United States.

“While the source of the new web site name was mostly administrative, as we move into marketing water kefir for export — as well as continuing to serve our domestic market — we felt that our new web site would clarify any confusion about where the water kefir is brewed and bottled.”
